Library Card

Get a Library Card!

Any resident of the Municipality of Brighton is entitled to a library card at no cost.

Library memberships may be purchased by Non-Residents:

  • Annual Non-Resident Family Membership - $25.00
  • Annual Non-Resident Single Membership - $20.00
  • Six Month Non-Resident Membership      - $10.00

You must show identification with your name and current address for a library membership.



Borrowing Library Materials

Patrons are expected to present their cards at the circulation desk when signing out library materials. Report a lost or stolen library card immediately. Replacement cards are available for a $1.00 charge.


Loan Periods

Most circulating materials may be borrowed for 3 weeks, with the exception of DVDs, Video Games or Special Collections.


Renewals

Patrons may renew materials for additional loan period provided the materials have not been reserved by another patron.


Returning Items

To avoid fines, return all library materials on time. Items can be returned to the Circulation Desk when the library is open. Items may also be returned in the drop box which is located at the front door of the library.


Fines & Replacements


  • Retention of borrowed library materials beyond the due date shall result in a fine.
  • Failure to pay fines in excess of $5.00 will result in loss of borrowing privileges. Borrowing privileges will be reinstated once fine balance is below $5.00
  • Patrons are responsible for materials while on loan to them. A patron who loses or damages library material shall be required to pay replacement costs.
